Band bio

More often than not, it rains when Crushpile plays. The band jokingly refers to it as simply “the black cloud”. To combat this phenomenon, it is customary for the band to tip a glass and utter the sacred words “Have a good show mate” and with uneasy smiles and sweaty palms saunter onto the stage in a semi-alcoholic haze to batter out their aggression on frail instruments. If you listen and watch closely in between songs you may see one of the band members give a sidelong glance at their nearest companion and hear the dismayed whisper “What the fuck is that noise”? , or “We’re out of tune”. No matter. With 5 years worth of broken strings, straps coming loose, cymbals falling, on stage assaults, smashed knees, blown speakers, cracked tubes, humming wires, props getting caught in the kick pedals, severed drum sticks, and spilled beer; our fans keep coming out to see us. Why?
Resilience. Standing in the face of adversity. Crushpile will play as hard to a large crowd of loyal ‘crushpilians’ in Stroudsburg, PA as they will to 1 lone drunk guy at a bar in Carlstadt, NJ. Let’s face it. Playing shows is work. It’s humping equipment up stairs and falling asleep driving on the way home. It could be waiting 5 hours to play – but also maybe having 5 minutes and hauling ass to be ready. Whatever the time or place, if you come see a Crushpile show, we will work for you. We strive to entertain you.
